How Does Working At Home Works? (Sharing my personal experiences working at home, my dream job)

Friday, June 23, 2017

Hi everyone! It's the weekend again and I was just having some thoughts about my work because whenever people ask me about my job, how does it work, how do I get paid and everything. In this blog, I'm gonna talk about my job, and our company.

So I found this company, Tripaneer.com which used to be Ebookingservices by the time I joined through an ad at Bestjobs.ph which is a good website to look for career options and opportunities. So Tripaneer is

So Tripaneer.com is a travel website that offers holiday packages with a specific theme. You can check more from our website, https://www.tripaneer.com/

The first company that I joined was Dnata, it was one of the huge travel companies in the world being the sister company of Emirates. I worked as a customer service agent there for almost 8 months, I felt the desire to leave the company because I felt like I wasn't getting the right training for my career path, I was also depressed by how sh*tty the customers treat us everyday, like everyday I would come to work and me and my colleagues would just talk about how sh*tty the day was, these friends helped me get by and so I decided to apply to Ebookingservices.

Now I know a looot of you would disagree about my decision and would simply say, hey, every workplace is stressful, why do you have to be such a cry baby, just get on with it. For me, if it's not helping with my growth as a professional or as an individual, I'll leave. I agree that every workplace is stressful, but at least you gotta choose a workplace that is not toxic because to me, that's what is poisoning you and slowly crashing your soul.

From there, I started working as a content editor, was moved to customer service (again) then now, I am working as an acquisition specialist for bookallsafaris.com. I'm really enjoying what I do everyday, I get to be in contact with different people. The team is the bonus, even though we can't see each other physically, we've been sharing our daily stress and achievements, I could definitely say that we are now working as a family.

"What are the benefits or working at home?"

1. First of all, commuting is no longer required. Yehey for me because I'm not a morning person, I take long hours getting ready, which means I could save more because I won't have to set aside money just for transportation.

2. You can still work when you're not feeling better but not too sick. Working remotely, I get to adjust my schedule but not often of course, because for me I wouldn't want my tasks to be bombarded so when I don't feel better, I would just adjust my schedule to still finish everything that I'm doing.

3. I can de-stress any time. I remember working at an office, I could just release my stress through scheduled breaks but working remotely, whenever I feel so stuffy at work, I could pause for a few hours, eat whatever I want and then go back to work.

4. Flexible schedule. What I love about Tripaneer is that they allow us to choose a preferred schedule that we should stick to. I remember working based on the schedule given to me. With the freedom that I have, I get to choose my days off and my working hours which is a very great perk that all of us want.

5. You get to know different people from different countries and nationalities. Tripaneer is a global website so the employees are also picked globally. This is so exciting because you get to meet a lot of people so despite the long distance I was able to make awesome friends and people that helps me with not only work but sometimes even personal.

Aside from the benefits, there are also some challenges to working at home

1. When laziness hits you. Working at home feels like it's not work at all, because you can just stay and lie in bed while replying to emails and finishing actions which is one of the struggles I have overcomed through the year that I've been with Tripaneer.

2. Power outage and intermittent connection. These are the circumstances that work-at-home people encounters that are out of our control. It's a good thing I had our connection upgraded, thank you so much by the way, Converge for providing an excellent connection and it's very consistent.

But apart from that, I think that's it. I really enjoy what I'm doing so to those who are asking if I would still pursue my dreams of becoming a flight attendant, I would confidently say no, because as I grow and learn everyday, I also realized that it is no longer my dream but I would definitely pursue traveling someday.

To those who are asking if I have plans on getting a "real" job, this is a real job, it's a fast paced environment and very challenging. It shaped my personality a lot because I have to deliver with less supervision and everything is self taught.

My interests were shifted to blogging/vlogging, and makeup. With my job as an acquisition specialist for Tripaneer, I have a work-life balance which means I could also pursue other careers that I want to try. I started my very first makeup tutorial so you'll be seeing more from me.

So I guess that's it for today, thank you very much for reading, I hope you learned something and I hope you find your dream job someday!

  1. I have a corportae job. But, I am allowed to work from home a couple of days a week. And yeah I love it! It is more flexible and I must say it is one of the reasons I am staying. It helps me strike the balance with work and other personal aspects of my life.

  3. Me too! I love working at home because there are so many things you can do while working. I could just binge watch my favorite series without getting ridiculed by nosy people if ever you're in an office. That could get annoying too. Right? Even if there are a lot of benefits for us, there will always be the cons.

I've got a question about Converge. Are they really worth it?

    1. Trueee. I used to binge watch Korean Dramas on my previous workplace but it's not really fun when you're hiding and when you're at the heap of the climax, you'll get disturbed by a call or something. HAHA.

YES THEY ARE. Less expensive than other network providers in the country but very consistent, there are still technical issues but not all the time. You should definitely give it a try. :D

  6. There are indeed pros and cons working at home. But I would love to agree that one of the most beautiful perks of working online and at home is that you need not deal with the traffic. I resigned more than two years ago and I seldom leave the house. I have a home to manage and a baby to look after. I am pregnant, too, which makes it difficult for me to travel alone. Last Friday, I visited my OB and the traffic was really terrible. I left our Quezon City house at 3pm and arrived at my doctor's clinic in Mandaluyong City by 7:30pm. Now imagine if I would deal with that everyday. Life would be real insane, I guess.

  7. Very admirable of you to leave the situation you were unhappy about to pursue something that gives you more satisfaction. More people should have your courage! Kudos to working at home and continuing to develop yourself as a blogger/vlogger.

  8. Work-from-home opportunities are a God-send especially for those who are tired of the daily drag of a 9-5 job. I sure hope time will come when every mum would find a job online so they won't have to leave the kids at home to earn a living. I always feel blessed that when I decided to leave my regular job I found opportunities to earn online and stumbled upon blogging, too!

  9. I have a corporate job but I always always love the idea of working from home! And I bet I will one day, probably when I'm managing my own business or have kids already haha. Pero true, sobrang toxic ng traffic. I could only with the work-from-home bill gets enacted into a law really soon! :D

  10. This is just so timely. I've been planning to work at home since last year, but didn't able to get the chance to leave the corporate world until now. I know in time I'll surely get the chance and I hope it is soon enough. Just like you, I also have a lot of reason why I want to leave the company where I'm currently working with which I've been with them for 6 years now. I feel like I'm no longer growing as an individual because of heavy work loads everyday. Thank you so much for your article. I truly find it helpful.

  11. Being a work at home mom has been the best decision I've made. Going on 6 years now I've found that it's made my lifer better in more ways than one. Your work sounds interesting and I'd like to check out those packages you mentioned. Btw, I don't lie down during the day because it's just too tempting to sleep in!

  12. I am planning to switch too from my current corporate job to a home based job. My problem is I don't known where to start looking for a job that offers this flexibility. Thanks for mentioning the site, I'll try to visit this and see if my skills would fit the job description. Spot on by the way with the traffic thingy! Haha!

  13. It's my first time hearing about Tripaneer. Anyway, there are truly advantages and disadvantages from working at home. I personally love to continue working at home. So I'm upgrading my skill sets so I can get a nice paying online job. What I love most about working at home is that time spent on travel is better spent elsewhere :)

  14. I guess, you lose sight of the targets when you work from home. Doorbell rings, you have to get up ans answer it. Phone rings and again you have to stir out of work. The bright side is that you can easily destress yourself by having unscheduled tea/coffee breaks. The boss also does not shout at you.

  15. I've been working at home for 3 years and it's been great. I'm not saying it's easy (being a wife, mom of 4 and a homeschooler at that) but worth it in the end, specially after the recent typhoon and flood situation, I'm so glad I didn't have to brave the rain to get to work like other people. Haven't heard of Tripaneer before, will definitely check it out. :)

  16. I love working at home. I have been doing it from 2014 and I can say that it's a dream since it allowed me to have a lot of time for my other passion projects. Early this year, I also started giving out workshops about working at home here in Bacolod. Hoping to change other people's lives one person at a time.

  17. One of the main reasons why I decide to work from home is the fact that I'll get to evade traffic. Working from home means lower cost of living too. As you've said we don't need to set aside budget for transportation. And also, cooking at home is cheaper and healthier. :)

  18. If given the chance, I would love to work at home. Spending more time with my baby and family would be great than spending it elsewhere. But this is the challenge when you are a gov't employee, it's difficult for me to turn down my current job because it would be hard to go back again in case I fail the wahm label. But I like the fact that working at home is efficient than the former.

  19. I'm happy for you that you found an online job that you like. I also love working from home. I'm now on my 10th year working as a freelancer and online worker. I do consulting, coaching and writing online.

  20. I did freelance work for a while too so I agree with most of your points here. I was just thinking that I like it so much better than the 9-5 office job (which extends to a few hours more due to commuting and traffic). But yes it's difficult especially in specific jobs where you need to download or upload large files because the internet in the Philippines is just blah. That saying, I'll work at home again given the chance. :)
