Difference between Foundation/BB cream and CC cream

Sunday, March 06, 2016

We know it's a struggle to find what best make-up product to buy. We have several types of make-up and it's a real struggle to decide which product to use. It's good to know what are the use of every make-up so that we'll be aware of we are putting on our faces.

I will be giving you the main differences between a foundation, bb cream and cc cream and hopefully, the next time you visit a make-up store, you won't be having a hard time to decide which one suits you best :D

1. Foundation

Definition:

Is a skin colored make up applied to the face to create an even, uniform color to the complexion, to cover flaws and, sometimes, to change the natural skin tone. Foundation is simply a make-up base. We use this to cover the blemishes and imperfection of the skin, and helps us enhance our skin tone.

Liquid foundations still requires a powder foundation because of it's moist finish and to lock the foundation in. However, if you don't blend it well, the result may not look so good so be very careful. If you want a no make-up look then find the perfect match for your skin tone because if you choose the wrong one, you might look too white or too brown.

Benefits:

Provides Sheer, light, medium and full coverage
Enhance complexion
Complete range of skin tone choices (May vary on brands)

Disadvantage:

Sometimes heavy on the face
Might smear if you get sweaty

2. BB Cream

Definition:

BB cream stands for blemish balm, blemish base. All-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. BB creams are presently being used as an alternative to foundation. This also requires a powder foundation since it provides a moist finish.

So if you want an alternative for liquid foundation plus provides protection and nutrients for your skin, this is your best choice.

Benefits:

Provides Nutrition and protection for your face
Tinted moisturizer
Alternative for foundation

Disadvantage:

Limited choices of skin tones

3. CC Cream

Definition:

CC cream is a marketing term coined in the wake of the marketing term Blemish Balm Cream or Beauty Balm. "CC cream" is used by some brands to mean Color Control cream, or Color Correcting cream, and some brands claim to reduce the appearance of skin redness or sallowness or to improve uneven skin tone. BB creams and CC creams are both tinted moisturizers containing sun protection.

CC creams are lighter than a BB cream and also doesn't have a wide range of colors to choose from. Some use CC cream as a base or primer for their make-up because of it's lightness. Some CC creams also provides a matte finish that's why if you want to achieve a no make-up look, a CC cream would be the best choice for you.

Benefits

Good for no make-up look
Tinted moisturizer
Light on the face
Provides matte finish
Can be an alternative for primer or make-up base
Good for daily use

Disadvantage:

Light coverage
Not advisable for big events because of its thin coverage
Limited choices for colors

Personal Comments:

So the next time you go to make-up store, deciding will not be a struggle as long as you know what are the use of every cosmetic. I have actually used these three different types so these are some of my opinions for their differences. If you'll ask me, I'm currently using a CC cream for my daily make-up since it's light on the face. Have any additional information? Let me know on the comments below.
