How to Overcome Insecurity?

Wednesday, March 02, 2016

Insecurity is one of the biggest issues a girl needs to deal with. Why do we even become insecure? Is it because you're not pretty enough? Is it because you don't have the things that everybody has? We become insecure when we start to manipulate ourselves that we are not enough, we will never be good enough and such. So here are the 5 things or advice that I can give to avoid insecurity. Yea, easier said than done but with these 5 steps I hope could somehow lessen your struggle. Hihi

1. Contentment

Being insecure is natural, we become insecure when we stop being contented. Being content helps you a lot. If you are contented, you'll no longer be frustrated about the things that you don't have so my advice? Start appreciating the things that you have right now.

2. Free yourself

Renew your mindset. Know that you are beautiful because you are you. You are unique and no one could be you. I know that is an understatement but let's always go back to the basic. It's plain simple, accept yourself the way you are.

3. Be yourself

This is probably the most used statement of all. In filipino term, "Gasgas na yan". Stop trying to be someone else. Stop trying to fit in! Do the things that you love to do not just because it's a trend or because someone told you so. But being yourself doesn't mean you wont indulge yourself with make-up and such, go ahead! If that's what you love, go for it. We don't put make-up for someone else, we do it for ourselves, to feel better about us and to be better. Explore your skills and try to enhance them, you'll start appreciating the uniqueness of you.

4. Encourage yourself

No one would appreciate you unless you start to appreciate yourself. Acknowledge yourself but don't be boastful. Accept your flaws and tell yourself, it's okay to make mistakes. Remember that you are you're own best friend. Don't let your mistakes and your insecurities get in the way. No one's stopping you but yourself. Critique yourself but don't you dare insult you. You are your worst enemy but you are your best ally. ":)

5. Listen to yourself

Insecurity begins when you start hearing the phrases, "you're so fat/thin" "you have so many pimples!" "your hair is so ugly" "oh, she is better than you, you should try being like her!" No no no no no! Never starve yourself to death just because someone told you you're fat! Never ever listen to what other people say about you. You know yourself and you must not allow them to uglify you. See, new word, uglify! Haha. Don't get me wrong, following advice from our parents or friends is a good thing don't just let the negative comments destroy your beauty. Also, an insult is different from an advice.

Final Advice:

Explore and know yourself more. Know your hobbies and interests, focus on that and let your uniqueness take over. Strive to be better! relationships, material things, acknowledgments and rewards won't make you feel secure unless you appreciate yourself first. I posted these photos because I feel that I am most beautiful with them, so after reading this, I encourage you to take a selfie, share it to the world with the caption that says "I am beautiful because I am me" be proud of who you are! It's not just about taking a selfie but actually trying to change your mindset and know that you are enough.

God created you as a special human being so allow yourself to be that creation. :)
